Annual skills maintenance ensures that members maintain knowledge and expertise of lifesaving, get important updates on changes, and maintain the skills required to be an active patrolling member.

If you have not completed skills maintenance by 31 December (or completed the award) you cannot perform patrols, operate rescue craft or compete in surf lifesaving competitions.

This year members skills maintenance for SRC and Bronze includes:

 Theory component

  • Watch a short update video from the SLSA Chair of Lifesaving (< 10 minutes)
  • Answer a couple of questions

Here is some information on how to access the online skills maintenance in the elearning section of the members portal.

Practical component

  • Run swim run
  • Demonstrate communication skills – radio and signals
  • Resuscitation – where assessors are available, we will put all members through the CPR award (HLTAID009) like last season.
  • Rescue – this year the focus is on tube rescues.
