Skills Maintenance

Almost all awards have an element of skills maintenance that you are required to complete annually. Skills maintenance involves either elearning, a face to face component, and sometimes both.

In the members hub, under elearning (navigate to the SLS hub, select elearning, then in the library/everything else/ SLSNSW Skills Maintenance 2026/27) you will find online skills maintenance requirements for:

• SRC
• Bronze
• Resuscitation (only for standalone award holders, otherwise its included in Bronze/ SRC)
• Powercraft – Drivers, Crew and RWC
• ART
• Silver Medallion Patrol Captains and Beach Management
• Age Manager and Age Assistant

For awards that require practical skills maintenance, you will need to:

• Complete the online learning
• Book into the session you want to attend for the practical

Step One: Complete the elearning in the training library 

Step Two: Register to attend the practical component on the Hub. This will allow us to ensure we have the correct amount of trainers and resources available, and we can communicate and last minute changes with you.

2. Go to elearning
3. Select Training Events
4. Use the filters – Sydney Branch/ Maroubra
5. Select a session
6. Register to attend before the session

The Public Safety and Aquatic Rescue – 35^th Edition (PSAR35) is the key resource for Bronze Medallion and Surf Rescue Certificate award holders and is available in electronic format. It updates online so you always have access to the most up to date information.
